How about the cost of needing to hire more admins to handle on-premises machines, and their time spent trying to save data from faulty end-user machines instead of just replacing them and thinking twice about it?
- ocdtrekkie 2y agoEither you pay admins to manage your on-premise systems, or you both pay admins to operate your cloud systems and also pay cloud providers for their admins to provide the cloud systems your admins manage.
- rdtsc 2y agoExactly. Now you’re paying admins and paying Bezos.
- unethical_ban 2y agoThe scale of cloud means the "pay cloud providers for their admins" is pretty cheap. I don't pay someone to knit my clothes, I buy shirts at the store.
- consteval 2y agoSure, but that's only a fraction of the equation. You need cloud people your side too, otherwise how do you build the software?
