I’ve heard good things about varnish and believe I used it for a few things back in the day. Squid was also good when I used it in the kid 2000s (not sure where it’s today) and I think I heard that Akamai was originally just Squid on NetBSD or something like that!! Can anyone confirm or deny?
- booi 2y agoFastly is basically a varnish-based CDN. They even let you provide VCL code to program it.
- perbu 2y agoThey forked Varnish (around 2.0, judging by the VCL syntax) quite early and I suspect there isn't much left of the original codebase. I'm very impressed how they managed to retrofit multitenancy.
- youngtaff 2y agoLast I heard they were moving away from Varnish (but still supporting VCL for customers that were using it)
