- tqi 2y agoThe wikipedia article continues: "Prior to 1985, water meters were not required in New York City; water and sewage fees were assessed based on building size and number of water fixtures; water metering was introduced as a conservation measure." Most places I've lived in the US have been metered.

- m463 2y agonot everywhere (or possibly not for everyone?). Rented plenty of places where water was NOT metered.
