IDEs are cool and all, but there is no way I'm gonna let VSCode index my 80GB yocto tmp directory. Ctags can crunch the whole thing in a few minutes, and so can grep. Plus there are cases where grep is really what you need, for example after updating a particular command line tool whose output changed, I was able to find all scripts which grepped the output of the tool in a way that was broken.
