Hi, I'm the dev of this extension. To be honest, this was a quick idea that I had and not much thought was put into the actual entropy, except for the addition of random special characters in between the moves.
I'm looking into adding a mode that allows the user to move any piece anywhere on the board, disregarding chess moves. Apart from that, I am also looking into adding other notations apart from algebraic notation system that can even be interchanged in the middle of writing your password.
I'm also looking at improving the password strength score the extension provides, as currently it's a simple point system where:
- if (password.length > 8) strength += 1
- if (password.length > 14) strength += 2
- if (password.match(/[a-z]/)) strength += 1
- if (password.match(/[A-Z]/)) strength += 1
- if (password.match(/\d/)) strength += 1
- if (password.match(/[^a-zA-Z\d]/)) strength += 2
At the end of the day, same as a regular password, it is up to the user to decide the best approach on creating the password. Moving a pawn up a couple times will never make a good password :)
