I was pleased to find that USB-C earphones are now inexpensive and plentiful. It was a must-purchase for my Pixel. The USB audio interface is mature and stable. It better supports the little remote button controls too. There are unfortunately two drawbacks which may make USB inferior to other interfaces: the C plug is small and weak. Already my first set of earphones became unusable due to a loose, flaky connector. Also, given that phones only sport a single USB, the earphones monopolize it and, sadly, prevent charging, PC interface, tethering, etc.
