Actually the whole influencer health and medical advise in social media in general is harmful.
In addition, because they are receiving money for it (from ads and monetization) it is getting pretty close to practicing medicine without a license (dispensing medical advice in exchange for money).
This doesn’t need to be banned, just demonetized. Basically, every medical advice and health care advice social media video/post needs to be aggressively demonetized.
This would prevent a lot of problems.
- cedws 2y agoThe skincare industry is harmful and needs to be regulated. The majority of products on the market have no solid scientific backing. They are predatory towards people with low self esteem looking for a quick ‘fix’ for their beauty. They’re also often filled with crap like microplastics and chemicals that shouldn’t be going down the drain. When I had acne I was sold countless homeopathic skincare products for it - moisturisers, cleansers, scrubs, none of them worked. I needed actual medical treatment. When homeopathic treatments get in the way of people getting real treatment that should be cause for alarm.
