Maybe. But LLMs are pretty non-deterministic and illogical. It will likely take another decade (or two) to fix that. Til then you just replace programming by repeatedly running the LLM and then doing much code review and testing, which by the end of the day is by no means less work.
EDIT: since the post has been flagged (for questionable reasons IMHO) I have to respond here to the comments.
@keyhanjkm: I think I understood what you meant; memory management is no longer an issue of the human programmer if there is AI, so neither we would have to use borrow checking or other explicit or implicit memory management syntax/semantics, but can focus on other things and use simpler languages; my comment exactly responded to this idea; if you use a simpler language which can no longer express memory management concerns, then the code reviews will move to the IR or assembler generated by the compiler.
@pvg: this is an interesting topic and in no way a "language flamewar"; it's about if when and how AI could take care of memory management concerns instead of the programming language or the programmer.
- keyhanjkm 2y agono i didn't say about replacing programming (programmers or programming languages), that is an other topic. i say about what did rust compiler is not a advantage in afew years later, signs show us it comming soon, we can find deep leaks and security flaws right now by these non-deterministic tools in our softwares made by unsafe or dynamic languages.
