I hope to see more evidence-based studies on yogic breathing and meditation that doctors can use in place of drug interventions. Studies on Ketamine [1] have coincided with a mix of commercial and medical distribution of the drug [2]. Its effects are immediate and recreationally enjoyable, making it easy to abuse. I anecdotally know several people treating very mild anxiety with ketamine, they also happen to love recreational drug use. What if instead, meditation and breathing were prescribed? Less immediate and fun, but more likely to remedy the underlying cause of anxiety and have long-term benefits on the quality of life.
