I've never gotten to use RISC OS; could you say a little more about what you mean? Just that it was very consistent?

  Yup, one way of doing each action. Was designed to be used by primary school children and the networked versions administered by primary teachers.

      Then you can try ROX (rox-filer) which try to recreate in a modern way, the Risc-OS experience. And it's a damn fine file manager, anyhow.
