Given that the OP doesn't factor in delays due to transit to and from the airport, clearing immigration and customs, and other delays, a more apt comparison would be the relative bandwidth of transferring 1 TB from one part of town to another. At that point, you're only facing traffic. If it takes 1 hour from one part of the a town to another part of the same town (4 if you are in LA), then the relative bandwidth is much more remarkable.
