Aka YAGNI (you ain't gonna need it). Developers have a tendency to over-build infrastructure before they've fully understood the problem domain. Plus, devs love to learn new tools, and then they've gotta use 'em to build infrastructure! When Johnny's just learned how to use a hammer, all problems look like nails to him: over the years, OOP, Java, XML, noSQL, functional programming, Kubernetes, ... :-)
