It's a studio monitor speaker. It's hard to see at first glance, but the manufacturer (Genelec) is printed on the back of it. There are other photos of his office from the other side and it's clearly a speaker. I feel like this blog post author could've Googled all the answers to his questions in only a few minutes.

    I misread. Yep, that's an non-operable scale model "sculpture" of a Power Mac G5.

Nobody seems to mention there are no cables. It's a g5 model. I don't think (personality-wise) he would have a non-apple look-alike device on his desk.
