Harvard Professor Has Plan to Persuade Supreme Court Justices to Retire
- rbanffy 2y agoCouldn’t Biden just use the immunity they granted him to fire them and replace them with more reasonable ones? If he can essentially do anything, then he can do ANYTHING.
- TheCoelacanth 2y agoNo, because immunity doesn't mean anyone has to follow his orders. On the other hand, he could assassinate them and be immune from any punishment.
- rbanffy 2y agoThat'd be rather extreme, but who am I to disagree with a legally elected representative of the people?
- layer8 2y agoThis would make it more difficult to find willing candidates for the now vacant positions, however.
- renata 2y agoIs assassinating Supreme Court Justices really an official duty of the president? Because that's all they said would be immune from prosecution.
- jfengel 2y agoHe can't fire them. If he tried, they'd just ignore him. He doesn't have that authority. He might be able to shoot them, and avoid prosecution. Or threaten them into retiring. I'd rather he didn't. But then, I would rather the Court not have passed such an absurd ruling, which apparently makes that legal.
- 486sx33 2y agoCutting staffers to force the justices to do an even worse job is really not the greatest idea I’ve ever heard. The stinky thing about all this is that if the Supreme Court justices were democrats then democrats wouldn’t be saying anything.
