- datadrivenangel 2y agoIbis allows this with custom datatypes.
- porker 2y agoI'm curious, when do you want to add a new column type? It's not a situation I've been in.
- softwaredoug 2y agoGeoPandas is one popular library (https://geopandas.org/en/stable/ https://geopandas.org/en/stable/) I added a column type for full text search, searching tokenized text (https://github.com/softwaredoug/searcharray https://github.com/softwaredoug/searcharray) The pandas support for extensions is very robust with extensive testing to make sure you can do all the data aggregations functionality you expect in and pandas column.
