I have no issue with self scan. However, I also like the stores that have a clerk scan the items and then the customer goes to an automated teller machine that takes credit card and cash for payment. I think the latter method helps solve both issues.

I think several modes should be available, including one where you pick, leave items to your name (against existing credit perhaps) and walk away, items shipped to you later ... ... and everything in between.-
