China War Is Good Business, Says White House-Linked Venture Capitalist

- more_corn 2y agoThis seems to be a politicized piece suggesting that war profiteers are driving us towards war with China. That framing is stupid and dangerous, and incorrect. China would love to convince us to roll over and let them invade anyone they like in the pacific. China is the one driving us towards conflict by preparing to invade Taiwan. The question of US involvement in defense of Taiwan has already been settled. We will defend them. Investing in businesses that are prepared to help that effort is probably a sane bet. If China doesn’t invade, everyone will be happy. If they do invade some military suppliers will get rich assisting in the defense. I don’t begrudge them that. If you wanted you could make the same bet. Nothing like an adversary who publishes their intent to invade years beforehand.
- simonblack 2y agoYes it would be. At first. Probably as good as it was for German armaments manufacturers pre-1945. That China war might have been winnable if it had been started by 2020. Now, probably not.
