Hey HN,
I’m just another dev guy who saw a bunch of people doing SaaS businesses, so I thought, why not give it a try? For my first project, I made something to gamify the grind to keep my motivation up — track my revenue, set goals, and unlock medals when I hit milestones.
I’m planning to add more medals for boost motivation. Figured others might like it too, so if you join, there’s even a leaderboard to see where we all stack up.
Check it out, and let me know what you think!
- itake 2y agoPersonally, I focus on the process, not just the results. Process goals are actionable, and thus more motivating. Consider these goals: 1/ $1b/yr in revenue. 2/ 10 cold emails per day. Both goals may take you to the same finish line, but I find only one of them to be motivating. Which goal is more motivating to you?
- nplus1th 2y agoI totally agree with you! Focusing on the process is key. That’s actually why I plan to add multiple types of goals in the future—so it’s not just about hitting a big number, but also rewarding the consistent actions that lead you there. Sometimes it's motivating to keep that end goal in mind, but without the day-to-day process, like sending those 10 cold emails, you’ll never reach it. Both sides are important, and balancing them keeps the journey sustainable and fun!
