Everything else being the same, it used to be the case that someone based on or close to SF would have an advantage – more so if your product is geared towards developers. SF and the Bay Area in general used to set worldwide trends, and I think that's still the case. However, after COVID we aren't back to the same level of conferences and other forms of gatherings that used to exist. I don't know if it still makes sense in the short term.
