Open-Source Cola
- russfink 2y agoGet me open source Jolt and I'll be all over it...
- joemazerino 2y agoSeconded.
- fourthark 2y agoIt says caffeine is not part of the recipe, so... just add more? (And use beet sugar IIRC.)
- mr_toad 2y agoDoesn’t have cocaine either, presumably these ingredients can be “tailored to a market's particular taste“.
- riiii 2y agoI can think of a market that would prefer heavier emphasis on the cocaine ingredient. To the point that the other ingredients are totally optional. But for legal reasons I don't want to insinuate which market that is.
- chasontherobot 2y agoWeb3 enthusiasts?
- ostwilkens 2y agoThe difference in taste of Jolt is too large to be attributed to only caffeine and beet sugar. While it's not open source, there is a successor to Jolt Cola in Germany called Volt Cola. It's supposedly the same recipe as Jolt, except it has more caffeine. Jolt was too long ago for me to compare the taste, but it's good.
- thih9 2y agoI was going to ask about a KFC counterpart since they are similarly secretive; but it turns out this is publicly known, at least according to some sources. > KFC Accidentally Revealed the Top-Secret Recipe for Its Fried Chicken https://www.cosmopolitan.com/food-cocktails/news/a63288/kfc-chicken-secret-recipe-revealed/ https://www.cosmopolitan.com/food-cocktails/news/a63288/kfc-...
- bromuro 2y agoKFC tastes horrible - at least we know how to _not_ fry chicken.
- riiii 2y agoPersonally I agree but statistically we're both wrong.
- 0xEF 2y agoNever been a fan myself and can't figure out why people seem to like it. It tastes bland, to me and tends to be oily in a disgusting way. I am not sure if it's a nostalgia thing, or my fellow 'Murikins are just so whitebread they think a wee bit of herbs and spices are a an absolute flavor apocalypse, or maybe it's a combo of both.
- attendant3446 2y agoIMO, it varies from country to country.
- vintagedave 2y agoThere's also an Irish company that makes a KFC-like recipe. The current owner's father was reportedly a friend of Colonel Sanders and got the recipe from him. I've tried it and it's really good: I ended up buying an 11-kilogram sack. I recommend deep-frying oyster mushrooms for a vegan version of KFC too. https://www.mashed.com/334467/why-the-worlds-most-authentic-kfc-recipe-might-be-in-ireland/ https://www.mashed.com/334467/why-the-worlds-most-authentic-...

- bjord 2y agoanyone working on a self-hosted CI/CD for this yet?
- deskr 2y agoYes. Fat John manages the CI. But no matter how much we commit, the products never makes it to production.
- noisy_boy 2y agoI wish someone runs with this. After the sugar-watering of the leading colas (first Pepsi and then slowly Coke too), I found RC Cola much later. It was a refreshing change but now it is difficult to find where I live. I'm sure this is due to some arm-twisting practices by the big two - it would greatly please me to see someone coming along and stealing their lunch.

- darajava 2y agoThere’s also Ubuntu Cola (no relation to the Ubuntu OS) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Cola https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Cola
