(2021) Three years later I'm not in ads anymore, and now work at a research non-profit trying to detect new viruses in wastewater sequencing data. I found a direct use of my efforts that was more valuable than earning to give, so I switched. Looking back, I think the key point of the post is still right: I still see the web as being pulled between ad-supported and paywalled, and I'm still rooting for the former.
