Practical "LLM" systems often incorporate things like Reinforcement Learning From Humans (RFLH) to steer towards more useful answers, and Retrival-Augmented Generation (RAG) to lookup relevant information. External "tool use" is also just starting to be adopted. Such systems are not just next token predictors, there is quite a bit more complexity to it. Not that I am claiming they are great for post mortem analysis, I not really have an opinion about that.
