"reluctantly"????
- talldayo 2y agoThe US led nuclear arms-reduction treaties for a long time, it's not hard to see them trying to put the genie back in the bottle. On top of that, a lot of standoff-range nuclear weapons rely on old or outright retired technology that has to be succeeded somehow. Compared to Russia or China, the United States doesn't really have the motivation to develop nuclear tech like they did in the 60s. US military doctrine doesn't rely on "red button" politics anymore, too. Putin draws lines in the sand wherever his enemies step, but even he doesn't want to commit to what he suggests. Modern militaries would rather rely on tactical operations than insist on fearmongering through big-stick diplomacy. This is doubly true for the modern United States, where nuclear weaponry is treated as an enemy of globalist policy.
