Thanks for your reply. I could perhaps get on this committee, or others of a similar flavor -- but I've seen what happens to colleagues who volunteer for lots of committees, and it's not pretty. That goes especially since I'm not quibbling with the details, rather I'm opposed to the entire premise of the committee. Moreover, I do not otherwise have much trust in the administrators leading this. Unfortunately I want to be a teacher and a researcher first and foremost, so this isn't something I can invest a lot of time in.
