Even with knowledge of the exact bug ahead of time, if you just open the file with the bug, barf out the code to fix it, and run the tests, you’re going to fail the interview. Umm hopefully you don't fail for this. I've definitely known and hired devs that can do this with surprising frequency. Just because the interviewer may have taken hours to find the bug doesn't mean someone else must.
