I put “invention” in quotes here because I think that a lot of the groundwork and ideas somewhat predate Rich Hickey in the literature that he references in the original video I linked. The word that springs to mind for me is "distillation" - certainly in my head that gives Rich the significant level of credit he deserves for both naming and overall design while acknowledging all that came before. Whether it works in anybody else's head must inevitably be left as an exercise to the reader.
