Are any pictures available? I would like to know how @ could look like a dog

- ralferoo 2y agoMore like a snail than a snake.
- ralferoo 2y agoI'm wondering what the ¬ operator was doing in BASIC. Line 25. At first, I was thinking it might be power, so that A and B should be the same but calculated differently, but the final output shows that B is a bit less than double that of A. Or maybe it's just losing more precision because of log conversions, but I'm surprised that would error towards a bigger number. FWIW, I don't think either answer is correct, so I think the program is just demonstrating different rounding errors due to loss of precision.
- thih9 2y agoNote that @‘s name in other languages is often a name of an animal with a tail[1]. Dog is just one example, there is also a monkey, a mouse, a worm, etc. [1]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_sign#Names_in_other_languages https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_sign#Names_in_other_languag...
- self_awareness 2y ago> In Kazakh, it is officially called айқұлақ (aıqulaq, 'moon's ear'). This one is pretty cool!
- ay 2y ago. ~___@ /\ /\ It is a head of a dog with the open mouth. With a bit of imagination still looks quite like that even on the iPhone :-) (edit: not sure how to convince HN to do the equivalent of <pre> - the picture is supposed to be in two lines. Edit2: ok, looks like I figured it out.)
- romanhn 2y agoIn my mind, the association is with a sitting dog that has its tail wrapped around it.
