The discomfort and stress is a given in any interview. What I think is nice about this is it doesn’t require you to emanate fully-formed, nicely designed code from your brain on the spot. Instead you just have to navigate the codebase, read it and understand it. It’s a better demonstration of knowing how software works imo. But I am biased because this sort of thing is one of my strengths.
