Argentina's lithium boom threatens Indigenous towns
- Rinzler89 2y agoLike I was saying for the past few years, the mass transition from ICEs to EVs is no free lunch in terms of planetary environmental damage necessary to extract the resources needed for a transition at this scale. There's a hidden cost to it that the person flaunting his Tesla around as being greener than the peasants driving their 20 year old cars, doesn't see, because the damage done to the planet to get his EV to his driveway is not in his back yard, but in a country he most likely wouldn't be able to find on the map. The problem is those externalities are rarely factored into the company's profits or the price of product, but most often are socialized to the people and governments in those areas to deal with and clean up.
