- benterix 2y agoIt's such a pity that Russians had such a bad luck with their leaders. First the society was tormented by their tzars, with most of the population living in poverty. Then the communists killed the tzars and made promises they couldn't keep and introduced new levels of terror. And in the end a guy who pushes the country back a century or two to the epoch of territorial wars, sending thousands to death. I just want this to be over.
- ivan_gammel 2y agoThis struggle is the root cause of Russian art: constant source of ideas and life-threatening constraint for self-expression, always pushing artistic language to develop new metaphors and forms.
- iammjm 2y agoCalling it "bad luck" is unfair. leaders don't become leaders out of the blue or without at least a portion of the society's support. Freedom has its price. The French paid the price as they rebelled against the aristocracy, so did the Americans as they fought the British, just as many other peoples did all over the world. The Russians are still very contend to outsource all things political to their masters, a nation of slaves. Even now it's the Ukrainians that are paying the price for freedom, their own and eventually that of Russians. By no means it is an easy thing to do, but now more than ever you do have some options if you carry an ak47, drive a t-72 or pilot a ka-52 or an fpv drone. It really is up to you to decide who do you aim your gun at - your peaceful neighbours or your tyrannical masters.
- euroderf 2y agoIncontrovertible historical evidence that dumpster fires scale across time and terrain.
- mamonster 2y ago>“It is just as well Malevich is dead. He would be skinned alive for his Black Square.” Well yes, given that Suprematism was more or less openly Trotskyist. I'm kind of surprised the article doesn't mention that at all (i.e as the thing that "killed" Russian avant garde of the time).
