GDash – A Feature-Rich Boulder Dash Clone for Mac, Win and Linux
- alejoar 2y agoI never knew Boulder Dash but seeing this brought up fond memories of playing Supaplex as a kid!
- JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B 2y agoEnjoy, it’s still one of my favorites: https://github.com/sergiou87/open-supaplex https://github.com/sergiou87/open-supaplex
- BobaFloutist 2y agoI'm probably a bit younger, but I remember Rocks'n'Diamonds having Boulder Dash and Supaplex levels in it too.
- duskwuff 2y agoR'n'D is also playable online nowadays: https://www.artsoft.org/rocksndiamonds/play/ https://www.artsoft.org/rocksndiamonds/play/
- baal80spam 2y agoOriginal Boulder Dash for Atari 800 XL: 11,65 KB GDash 1.9.15 Win64: 65,3 MB What went wrong?
- karmakaze 2y agoLayers of operating systems and APIs? DOS, Win16/Win32/Win64, Kernel, User, GDI/DirectX, etc. and many versions of them from Win 1, 2, 3, NT, 95, etc. And of course computers getting orders of magnitude faster/larger/cheaper with efficient/lazy human nature. I used to program Atari assembly/machine language (even made a Boulder Dash clone with level editor back in the day) but wouldn't do it today except for a gag/laugh or reminiscing.
- JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B 2y agoNothing prevents you from writing the same game in assembly on top of the frame buffer of the BIOS. It will be a major PITA (I did that in the past), but I’m sure you’ll enjoy the small size of the binaries.
