- akoboldfrying 2y agoWhich, TTBOMK, we still don't understand the mechanism of at all. But yes, it's fantastic stuff!
- car 2y agottbomk?
- akoboldfrying 2y agoTo the best of my knowledge
- The_Colonel 2y agoIt's not addictive, but you gain tolerance. IIRC it's also hard on liver, esp. in combination with alcohol (which js unfortunate since it's otherwise good for hangover).

- arcticbull 2y agoLeading cause of acute liver failure in the US, because the active dose is far closer to the lethal dose than many other OTC drugs. Not clear to me it would actually be approved if it were submitted today. It is particularly neat because it's not just a pain suppressant, it's a general emotion suppressant. > ... [it] blunts physical and social pain by reducing activation in brain areas (i.e. anterior insula and anterior cingulate) thought to be related to emotional awareness and motivation. [1] It also reduces the empathy for pain. - dillydogg 2y agoI've been told by a number of my attending physicians that it is unlikely that acetaminophen would have received FDA approval if it was being reviewed today because of it' small therapeutic window and unknown mechanism of action
