- Takennickname 2y agoI googled it and found it.
- itohihiyt 2y agoI googled and didn't. So citation needed.
- katbyte 2y ago… and you didn’t see a need to share it here?
- Takennickname 2y agoNo. I was showing the person who claims it's not real that I can search for it. Teach a man to fish and all that.
- katbyte 2y agoExcept you’ve not nor achieved your goal of proving it’s not real
- Takennickname 2y agoWho said that was my goal? Literally explained my goal in the second sentence of my reply to you.
- ziggyzecat 2y agoit would have been efficient to share what you found! please do, if you find time to spare.
- DonHopkins 2y agoI don't believe you, since you didn't bother to actually post what you found, when you directly responded to someone asking for a citation. Your comment is less than useful, and completely untrustworthy.
- Takennickname 2y agoYou don't have to believe me. I didn't post it because he (and you) can search for yourselves. Literally first result for "uk illegal meme".
- hnlmorg 2y agoIt’s a pity you’re being downvoted because this is a very reasonable request. I too would love to know the story behind that claim because, having lived in the UK for a good number of years, I’d guarantee there would be more going on than simply just what the GP suggested.
- x-yl 2y agoI take it it's in reference to the convictions of those inciting violence on social media following the recent far-right riots in England. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/aug/09/two-men-jailed-for-social-media-posts-that-stirred-up-far-right-violence https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/aug/09/two... I suppose in a way advocating for arson and hate crimes is an "illegal meme"..
- TomWhitwell 2y agoThis is what an illegal meme looks like: "Tyler Kay, 26, wrote a post... calling for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set alight. He responded to several comments posted by others following his post, adding that it was “100% the plan”. Kay also reposted... another message inciting action against a named immigration solicitors in Northampton" https://www.cps.gov.uk/cps/news/man-jailed-just-two-days-after-posting-online-during-public-disorder https://www.cps.gov.uk/cps/news/man-jailed-just-two-days-aft...
- hnlmorg 2y agoI think we are stretching the definition of a meme here. This was original content orchestrating attacks. Not some repost of a joke (however bad taste it might be). At which point is the boundary between meme and instigator?
