- quantum_state 2y agowould second the suggestion…
- Retr0id 2y agoI feel like I'm missing something, is there a dual meaning here?
- nyx 2y agoI think it's reminiscent of "rectum", unless I'm missing it too.
- splitrocket 2y agoDamn near kill'd em.
- stavros 2y agoWhy?
- wolfram74 2y agoMy guess it is a reference to a neal stephenson novel, anathem https://anathem.fandom.com/wiki/Reticulum https://anathem.fandom.com/wiki/Reticulum
- __MatrixMan__ 2y agoA reticulum is a netlike structure, seems good to me. Ain't you never reticulated splines?
- gumby 2y agoWhat’s wrong with it? It just means network.
- Angostura 2y agoWhy, what is wrong with it?
- kcvv 2y agoWhen reading fast, we tend to read first/last letters and the 'pattern' of the whole word and not really read the spelling. In this case, Reticulum is not very common or a familiar word and most folks would first read (or rather 'see') the word 'rectum'! https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23089042/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23089042/ https://www.dictionary.com/e/typoglycemia/ https://www.dictionary.com/e/typoglycemia/
- alvah 2y agoYou described the phenomenon much better than I would have.
- alvah 2y agoAt first glance the word looks a lot like “rectum”.
- brabel 2y agoI thought it meant "small rectum" as a diminutive[1] :D [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diminutive https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diminutive
