This was a hard lesson for me. Presidential candidates promise a whole bunch of things to get voters to back them. Although even if they really wanted something e.g universal healthcare or no taxes on tips, a bill needs to go through house and senate. That’s 100-ish representatives who need to vote yay on a bill to go through. Unlikely it gets passed if there’s a 50/50 split in senate and house.
