Starbucks CEO Allowed to Work 1k Miles from Headquarters
- ggm 2y agoI'm not adverse to the rhetorical device of "rules for thee but not for me" but really, it's always been a hierarchy, and the idea that companies implement flat policies equitably is demonstrably false. A very small number of smaller enterprises manage to stay the course, it demands "mondragon" levels of commitment to the principles. Almost everything else has a pretty clear barrier. Above the glass ceiling you do what you want within the limits of the law as you interpret it, and below the glass ceiling, plebs do as they are told. If somebody wants to make something of this, probably it lies in mistaken belief about Starbucks corporate culture and Seattle. Time passes. Remember, google left "don't be evil" behind over a decade ago, and Starbucks has not really been about Seattle for quite a long time. The CEO could be in India for all I care. It's a behemoth chain, with transfer pricing of the intellectual property behind the logo and the pump bottles of flavour. If you actually LIKE coffee, go somewhere else. If you wanted "wework" with a 1litre cup of something sweet it's got your back and free wifi to go with it.
