  The "dilemma of the palette", I grapple with it constantly. if you never develop a palette for something, you never have to spend the money on "the good stuff". Applies to scotch, wine, beer, cigars, and food, among other things. Of course, appreciating some of these things has some social benefits. And of course, in each such case, you can just fake it.
