The reason? So the UX can be improved over time. Like, for example, when Tesla made certain safety symbols and the speed readout larger.
Try doing that when everything is in hardware.
- amluto 2y agoWhen did I say “hardware”? While I prefer physical buttons for critical controls [0], a fixed-layout section of the touchscreen for physical controls would still be a massive improvement over the status quo. The “app bar” would be separate. [0] The speed readout you’re mentioning is not a control. I have no problem with it being on a screen other than the fact that that screen occasionally crashes.
