breathless hype. counterpoint: AGI is not coming soon and will not come from LLMs spitting out next tokens.
- yawpitch 2y agoEverything this channel does is pretty well thought out, and they’re certainly not engaging in LLM hype, they’re just starting a series exploring the many potential implications of an AGI — as breathlessly hyped by a lot of other people — actually coming about, by whatever means, on the timeline that some of those other people are proposing. They do a lot of “what if” futurism that looks at where human society could go longer term if it makes certain, sometimes entirely hypothetical, choices / advances / mistakes. In a nutshell, don’t dismiss Kurzgesagt out of hand.
