Lomborg at his worst, pandering. Using so many words to describe problems and so few describing solutions.
One of the last few paragraphs does describe the solution, and I agree with it:
> The only realistic way to achieve a transition is to vastly improve green energy alternatives. This means more investment in green energy research and development. Innovation is needed in wind and solar, but also in storage, nuclear energy, and many other possible solutions. Bringing alternative energy costs below the price of fossil fuels is the only way that green solutions can be implemented globally, and not just by the elite in a few climate-concerned, wealthy countries.
- Bostonian 2y agoWhat is wrong with that paragraph?
- lysace 2y agoNothing, it's great! It's just that it came after 10+ paragraphs of green energy whining.
- rhelz 2y agoI guess when you run out of real stuff to pander with, you have to make up fake problems to pander with.
- bell-cot 2y agoIf (his thesis) we're squandering vast sums on "trendy & pretendy" solutions to a dire problem, and actual, working solutions would require a boatload of money (spent wisely) - then what's wrong him with spending a lot of words on the first part? Nothing will get fixed if everybody looks at his title, says "but I've done my share by buying a free-range hamster treadmill electric generator" - and doesn't bother to actually improve their behavior.
- lysace 2y ago> then what's wrong him with spending a lot of words on the first part? Attention drops off exponentially(ish) from the headline, going downwards. See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Above_the_fold https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Above_the_fold
