If I can figure out a way to unlock the bootloader I intend to put LineageOS on it and keep it until the battery wears out - and even then it looks like iFixit says I can replace the battery. Wasn't very fond of the S7 I had before it, but loved my HTC One way back in the day. The best we can do is advocate for a world where people can continue maintaining the software and hardware of the devices we love. I don't know how the industry will react to slowing upgrades, but nothing I'm seeing these days tempts me very much.
