That’s the problem with circular reasoning… I’d suggest the entire works of Terry Pratchett will provide much better and useful judgement.
> you could always try Sikhism— about which I know relatively little
The former is worth sampling, the latter is unsurprising.

At least you wear that ignorance on your sleeve… it isn’t the religion of a warrior caste, the warrior caste exists in service of and to defend the religion, and that religion has got a long history of needing defense.
> However, I haven't been able to get much out of reading its holy book (the Guru Granth Sahib) at an intellectual level, as it mainly seems to repeat the same basic ideas over and over again.
That’s my take on the Bible, only its basic ideas are all of morally worse, ambiguous if not outright contradictory, and, as you admit, less ethical in the first.
Really if you’re going to bother comparing to other religions while also being confirmation-bias-set on both starting with and ending at Jesus, you really should just jump straight to Jainism… Mahavir said essentially everything Jesus ever said, several hundred years earlier, and just a glance at the movement of art and food suggests those ideas had osmotically settled in the Levant by the time John the Baptist started splashing folk.
