We complain that there's nothing new, and here someone's electronic messaging system is being claimed to have been new because it was a reinvention. No one can argue with its success. Perhaps there's a lesson here, that the best innovations are adapting systems that already work to new contexts. Invention from scratch is hard to get right (and hard to adopt).
