      By and large overdose is a result of irrational thinking, or misguided attempts to apply logic. So it doesn’t make sense to make judgements about or apply ration to the drugs someone ODs on. Also, it doesn’t seem so weird for someone to try and mix uppers and downers. And those are all commonly abused drugs. For those reasons, I can only assume this comment was a poor attempt at sarcasm and/or humor.

        Cocaine and Xanax is a strange combination. I have never heard of their mixing before.

        It depends, taking caffeine and alprazolam together does not make much sense, but it can reduce the jittery feeling of caffeine, for example. It may not have been mixed either, it is common to take benzos when coming down.

        They typically aren't taken together at literally the same time. It will be coke early in the night and then eventually xanax to get them to sleep because they are so wired.

        Be assured, it wasn't meant as humor or sarcasm. Just being baffled at the combination: I could understand that someone takes a downer like Xanax to end a stimulant session and get rest. But when they're at an end of a stimulant session, how would they OD at that point? Xanax only really causes trouble in combination with other depressants such as alcohol or other benzos. So I'm presuming they probably indeed had a panic disorder, (probably triggered by the amphetamine) and used the Xanax to calm down, and kept dosing themselves up. Cause of death, I'd reason was probably a cardiac event caused by the stimulants, in particular cocaine. I said it's odd because that's a weird way to OD in my opinion, having dealt with a number of cases.

        Some people abuse drugs as a way to stabilize themselves. They don't take cocaine to party, but they take it as I would drink coffee. Then when they're too high they'll take a Xanax to bring themselves down. They may combine many different drugs and think of this as a normal way to regulate their body or mood rather than a way to simply party. John Mullaney did this

  The amphetamine is almost assuredly from the cocaine, so that just means they were doing coke and Xanax. Xanax as a party drug is just strange in general.

  Depends on the half life and concentrations. Daily adderal RX for ADHD or studying. Coke at night to party. Xanax at end of night to come down from the uppers and try to sleep. That mix is pretty common.
