Always talk of putting solar collectors 'everywhere', like it's the first time anybody ever thought of that. The place to put solar collectors is, in a centralized accessible flat fully-exposed ground-level cheap location near a major grid connection. Putting little bitty collectors everywhere is none of those things. Just the equipment to convert it to useful grid-power is as expensive as the panels, almost as expensive as the real estate. You definitely don't want to be doing that in little inefficient bits all over the place. Just install solar in rural solar farms near city centers, and stop with the brainstorming already.
