Cow and calf die after cyberattack on milking robot
- BenjiWiebe 2y agoThe robot did not directly kill the cow or calf. That was a result of the cow records being inaccessible due to ransomware.
- PretzelPirate 2y agoA farmer shouldnt need a computer to know if a cow is that close to death.
- saulpw 2y agoTheir farm[0] has 75 cows (maybe 74 now). That's fewer than I was expecting, but still a lot to keep track of. [0]https://huobhof-ch.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://huobhof-ch.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en...
- jjeaff 2y ago75 cows is a small hobby farm. I can only speak to beef cattle, it's possible that dairy cows are much more maintenance, but for beef cattle, basically no one needs any kind of tech help to keep track of the health of 75 heifers and cows.
- Log_out_ 2y agoIt depends on a ton of medical history. Did the cow have a previous cesaren for example. That can make any follow up birth a cesaren or risc a tear in the womb during birth. Then there are vaccinations or the calf may be aborted late stage due to sickness.
- itishappy 2y agoWhy is a milking machine responsible for informing the farmer of medical emergencies? If the machine is indeed responsible for the health of the animal, why was it still in-use without the computer?!
- zvolsky 2y agoIt isn't clear whether it was the milking robot or the farmer's computer that was compromised.

- 1over137 2y agoMust be a factory farm? Surely the mother knows how to feed the calf, and the calf knows how to feed from the mother…
