The inflation is crazy.
- keepamovin 2y agoThe article isn't saying that coffee in NZ costs $7, it's asking if it ought to given that many costs in producing it have gone up, while cafes keep pricing it less than what consumers could expect to pay if those costs were passed on to them.
- nixnixers 2y agoI find the article short on details necessary to make any judgement. The cost of coffee beans themselves were typically not a major cost of providing a coffee at a cafe, so double the cost naturally doesn't mean double the price.

- not_the_fda 2y agoWhile the price of coffee green coffee beans has a lot a volatility year to year. The macro trend is very stable. https://www.macrotrends.net/2535/coffee-prices-historical-chart-data https://www.macrotrends.net/2535/coffee-prices-historical-ch... You are looking at $2 a pound for coffee beans, or $0.16 a cup. The remaining price is mostly, non-coffee related.
