Intel's BIOS updates for crashing CPUs are now rolling out
- lloydatkinson 2y agoCrashing is certainly one word to describe literal internal disintegration. This entire episode has, after a lot of time spent reading and researching, made me decide to go with AMD for my next PC build. I last built my PC in 2015/2016 so I tend to want things to last.
- doubled112 2y agoAMD has usually been pretty good longevity wise. Just look at the number of CPU sockets Intel has switched through vs them. Makes it possible to upgrade in a few years without total replacement.
- ls612 2y agoZen 5 is looking really good, you can either get Zen 4 performance for 65/90W or get 20% faster performance for the same power as Zen 4 with PBO.
- ciwolsey 2y agoI'm probably switching to Amd too in a month. I haven't upgraded since 2016 either. I was planning to go from 6700k to 14700k. Now I'm considering a 9950X if the pricing and performance are good. Think they're due in a couple of weeks. I'll be staying with nvidia though. Just hope pairing NVIDIA with Amd cpus won't cause issues.
