Yup, the author confuses security with protection and arrives at a the
"wrong question".
Security and reliability (also proximate "safety") are adjacent
concepts and very well aligned in most cases.
Of course allowing a trusted third party deep access to your system is
going to damage reliability. It is also going to damage security.
It violates the most basic trust models that underpin actual security.
