The OP spelled out a lot of my own behaviours when it comes to spending money, but I didn't grow up poor. My parents did though. I definitely feel that my attitudes around spending come from them. Ironically, they're often keen to tell me to spend my own money and enjoy my life, but aren't good at taking their own advice. Easier to spot flaws in others than in yourself I suppose.
